“Goodbye” invites reflection on the transient nature of appearances, the eternal nature of underlying reality, and knowing that separateness is illusory. We come to know the impermanence of forms whilst knowing deeply what does not come and go is our own essential nature.
we are gathered here today
to say goodbye to goodbyes
for Truth realized
cleanses the eyes
to refocus on what is real
we enjoy appearances
that phase in and out
yet know without doubt
that these forms represent
what is always present
we may still say goodbye
to what’s seen with the eye
but there is no apart
in the heart of the heart,
what is real never dies
