The isolation that the pandemic has brought has taken a toll on many. The sense of lack they may have felt prior to this isolation has intensified. I have heard it referred to as “FOMO” or fear of missing out…
Those who suffer from fear of missing out are actually “missing in”. Here are some “pointings” I have found useful.
“Compose yourself in stillness, draw your attention inward and devote your mind to the Self. The wisdom you seek lies within.”
Bhagavad Gita
Discovering the unending source of happiness and contentment ends any sense of lack.
The origin of all that is can naturally be called “mother of all. ” Finding our mother, we find our true self. Finding our true self, our suffering ends. If we let our thoughts become still and our needs become few, we will live in peace. If we follow our thoughts and chase after distractions, we will live in chaos. Noticing small and ordinary things is enlightenment. Treating all beings with kindness is strength. Enlightenment is our natural state. Sitting in meditation we see our hidden suffering, accept it, lay it down, and return to peace.
