Hey Batter

We don’t often pause to think
as we raise our glass to drink,
to grasp and lift and pour
as so many times before.

What allows this complex act
so flawless and exact,
with no need to analyze
to question or surmise?

This water slakes our thirst
and forgotten down it goes,
but how is it dispersed?
we have no need to know

What figures all this out,
that has never had a doubt,
that effortlessly plays
with amylase and anaphase

Science only observes these complex games
and applies these complex names
but never finds out the ‘who’
…I daresay it is You!

Let’s not dance around the Truth,
all of this is You!
and the You that I infer,
inside all of this occurs

Although mind an amazing thing,
it can try but never bring
an understanding of this THIS
another swing, another miss

Drop the itchy need to know
jump in headfirst, watch the show,
play your role, enjoy all things,
…hey batter batter batter SWING!
