Prison Cell Phone

Prison Cell Phone – written through and read by Walter
Hither and thither
mind jumps about,
jinking and juking
a whisper, a shout.

An unsteady state,
concentration askew,
repetitive thoughts,
an internal coup.

This seems quite normal
as cell phones disrupt,
beeps, bells and flashes
invasive, abrupt.

Mind drawn toward
a gaudy display,
the next dopamine hit
just a dingle away.

Escaping this cell,
recovering our wits,
allowing attention to rest
where pure essence sits.

Composed in stillness,
free from the din,
dedicated to silence,
abiding within.
